Malnutrition and CHRONIC PAIN

Certain painful conditions can provoke a loss of appetite and eating pleasure and, consequently, are a high risk of malnutrition*

  • Chronic pain such as fibromyalgia, algodystrophy, neuropathy induced by chemo-therapy, etc.
  • Surgical operations
  • Treatments such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, colchicine and penicillamine

Whereas the treatment of acute pain can be considered satisfactory, the treatment of chronic pain constitutes a real scientific, medical, social and economic challenge.

Following a program of internationally recognised experimental work, Professor Guy Simonnet and his team have demonstrated the interest of a nutritional approach involving a low polyamine diet.

NUTRIALYS MEDICAL NUTRITION, which arose out of this research, is the first laboratory to develop nutritional formulas with a low polyamine content which are capable of meeting the nutritional needs of malnourished chronic pain patients, while at the same time limiting the dietary intake of polyamines.
